CWS (Choose Well and Succeed) provides youth with options for making positive choices that will help their mental health and help them make positive career plans through presentations in schools and one-on-one meetings. The goal is to help the youth better understand their educational experience while removing barriers that could impede their success.

CWS (Choose Well and Succeed) aims to support racialized at-risk youth using Strength-Based Interest and the Wrap Around model to support the youth to success.

Welcome: Testimonials

Thank you so much for inviting us to your workshop on Making Good Choices. During your talk, I really learned many things and the impact on myself and the young audience was really phenomenal. We always think that it can never happen to us or the people in our family. Many of them reacted with surprise and had many comments when you showed hand signs and gang signs. Many young kids just see others do them and copy without understanding these signs. And not knowing that they could get into trouble being targeted or recruited by gangs. Many kids gasped and giggled and expressed concern when you were talking about your personal story. I was moved and started to think about how many small decisions can lead to disaster or success.

How we must be thoughtful and not rush into groups or friendships. When you were finishing your talk the kids behind me started to shout, "more more”. I myself wanted to shout, "more more". They wanted so much to learn from you and the time just flew by.  Your talk gives hope to those who are already in the gangs that -"Yes there is a way out". And for those who are already in it reinforces the thought "yes, we should stay out of gangs". I wish every kid in Calgary could hear your story and learn from it. I wish all parents can learn about this topic as well and support kids better.
